Is astrology real? Meaning, calculations and evidence
Astrology is a real cultural and interpretive practice. That is different from establishing that a birth chart can reliably measure personality or predict a relationship. Astrunara uses astrology as a reflection framework and does not claim its scores or readings are scientifically validated.

Which parts can be calculated?
The positions of the Sun and Moon and the orientation of a local horizon can be calculated from time and location. Our software uses these physical quantities to assign placements within the tropical zodiac. The separate step of interpreting a placement as a personality theme is not an astronomical measurement.
What would count as evidence for a personality claim?
A useful test would state the claim in advance, compare predictions with outcomes, control access to personal clues and measure performance against an appropriate comparison. A memorable story about a reading is different from such a test.
Shawn Carlson’s 1985 paper in Nature, A double-blind test of astrology, describes tests of natal-chart personality claims. It is one historical research example, not a complete review of the subject. This page does not present a numerical estimate of astrology’s accuracy or claim that one paper settles every form of the practice.
Why can a description feel meaningful?
A description can give you language for an experience, prompt a memory or lead to a useful discussion. Those are experiences worth noticing. They do not, by themselves, show that the description was uniquely predicted from your birth details. Ask whether the same paragraph could also fit someone with another sign.
How can I use a reading critically?
- Identify a specific recent example instead of agreeing with a broad label.
- Look for examples that do not fit as well as ones that do.
- Keep statements about your own experience separate from claims about another person’s motives.
- Leave a reading aside when it does not help; you do not owe the model an explanation.
What does this mean for compatibility scores?
Our score is generated by editorial rules, not measured relationship outcomes. A score of 91 is not a 91% success rate. Read the actual scoring rules and the guide to lower scores before giving the number weight.

No. Accurate inputs and calculations establish a position. The claim that a position predicts a personal characteristic would need its own evidence.

Yes. You can use a story or prompt for reflection while remaining clear about what it does and does not establish.
